My goals for counseling approach/skills were to be myself and be natural when doing interviews; asking more open-ended questions, knowing when attentive silence is appropriate, and allowing the client to speak more by asking furthering response statements.I noticed each week I improved in my areas of weaknesses. On my first video I sounded like I was reading from a script, and you can see I was nervous. Once I received feedback from instructors and my peers, I saw improvement. I was advised just to be myself. I was also becoming familiar with the content and flow, so it made other areas of improvement easier to work on. Asking open ended questions was difficult at first. I was able to do research what open-ended questions were like compared to closed ended questions and that helped me improve in other areas like paraphrasing and further response statements.
